Dwarf Hamsters & Dogs – Can They Be Best Friends?

We get many questions from new dwarf hamsters owners who want to know if it is a good idea to try and bond their little ones with their pet dogs.

Firstly, do you KNOW YOUR PETS? Is your dog essentially a friendly canine when it comes to other pets? What about your hamster? Is he easily spooked or shy or does he get along with most visitors to your home?

Once you believe that there might be a good chance that both the dwarf hamster and your dog might play nice, then try letting them play together under your close supervision. Remember that even though both the hamster and the dog might seem to get along, you should always watch them both whenever your pet hamster is out of its cage.
